Aeroflot Group Reports Soaring Number of Young Passengers

MOSCOW, April 7 — The airlines of the Aeroflot Group, which includes Aeroflot, Pobeda, and Rossiya, carried over 3.1 million children aged 2 to 12 last year. According to the carrier's press service, 2.4 million of these young passengers flew on domestic routes.

The figure for children on domestic flights represents a significant increase of nearly 20% compared to 2024. On flights operated directly by Aeroflot and Rossiya, including iFly services under the SU code, the total exceeded 2.2 million children.

The group's specialized services for families saw substantial use. The unaccompanied minor service was requested over 21,000 times, and bookings made by large families neared 30,000.

In a lighter note, the most common names for young travelers were also revealed. For girls, the top names were Maria, Anna, and Polina. For boys, it was Alexander, Artyom, and Mikhail.

The growth in young flyers was a topic of discussion during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Aeroflot CEO Sergei Alexandrovsky on April 6. Alexandrovsky attributed the increase directly to the fixed 50% discount offered on children's airfares, a policy that appears to be making air travel a more accessible option for families across the country.
