Aeroflot Celebrates Lunar New Year at 35,000 Feet
MOSCOW, Feb 13 – Passengers flying with Aeroflot this weekend will get a taste of the Lunar New Year. The Russian flag carrier has designed a special festive menu for all flights departing Moscow on February 17 to mark the occasion.
The offerings vary by flight duration and cabin. On business class journeys longer than seven hours, travelers will be served duck with mandarin pancakes, vegetables, and hoisin sauce. Shorter business flights will feature a starter of fried eggplant with beef, cilantro, and chili. For flights over two hours in both Business and Comfort class, the main lunch course will be beef with egg noodles and cashew nuts.
In Comfort and Economy, a chicken salad with glass noodles and Chinese cabbage will start the meal. Economy passengers on flights longer than three hours will have sweet and sour chicken with vegetables and rice for lunch, while those on one-to-three-hour flights will receive spicy chicken sandwiches with sweet chili sauce and smashed cucumbers.
A sweet tradition awaits all passengers on Moscow departures that day: everyone will receive a Chinese fortune cookie. Additionally, from February 13 to 28, on inbound flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Sanya, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, cabin crews will deliver a Lunar New Year greeting over the PA system.
All passengers, regardless of class, will also receive a limited-edition invitation card to the 'Chinese New Year in Moscow' festival. Attendees who present the card at the event can collect a special gift from Moscow's tourism committee and Aeroflot.
