Abkhazia’s Tourism Ministry Plans a Smart Chatbot for Visitors by 2026

Travelers heading to Abkhazia will soon have a new digital sidekick. The republic’s Ministry of Tourism announced plans to launch its first chatbot for tourists in 2026, offering a one-stop source for everything from hotel bookings to emergency contacts.

Minister of Tourism Astamur Logua confirmed the project is in early development. “We aim to roll out a unified digital tourism platform in chatbot form by 2026,” Logua said. “The goal is to give visitors fast, easy access to the information they need while they’re here.”

The chatbot will pack details on attractions, guided tours, hotels, restaurants, beaches, and local events. It will also include real-time updates on public transport and emergency services. Officials are exploring adding an interactive map and a feedback system to the platform, turning it into a full-service digital travel assistant.

“This will be a single digital helper for tourists, making their stay in Abkhazia more comfortable, modern, and informative,” Logua added.

Abkhazia sits on the Black Sea in the northwestern part of the South Caucasus. The region is divided into seven districts—Gagra, Sukhum, Ochamchira, Gali, Tkvarcheli, Gudauta, and Gulripsh—plus the capital city of Sukhum. Popular spots include Lake Ritsa, the New Athos Cave, Gegsky Waterfall, Sukhum Botanical Garden, the New Athos Monastery, Anakopia Fortress, and Stalin’s dacha in Myussera.

With this chatbot, the ministry hopes to modernize the travel experience and keep visitors informed every step of the way.
