A Taste of Culture Shock: Russian Traveler Shares Her Vietnamese Dining Experience

When it comes to dining in Vietnam, Russian tourists tend to stick to European restaurants, avoiding the local eateries that are popular among the Vietnamese. This is according to Ilona, a Russian traveler who shared her thoughts with a Russian news outlet. Ilona, who is currently vacationing in Vietnam, admitted that she avoids eating at local establishments, citing concerns about food safety and hygiene. She explained that in Asia, it's common for people to handle food with their hands and prepare dishes using ingredients that have been left out in the sun for a long time, which raises questions about the safety of the food. Instead, Ilona prefers to dine at restaurants that serve a variety of cuisines, including Russian food, where the atmosphere and cleanliness are more familiar to her. She noted that at local food stalls and eateries, trash and food waste are often discarded on the floor, which she found unsettling. Another Russian traveler, Marina, had a vastly different experience in Vietnam, where she discovered a unique and delicious coffee drink made with raw egg and sugar. Despite the initial shock of trying such an unusual beverage, Marina fell in love with it and enjoyed her time in Vietnam, highlighting the diversity of experiences that can be had in this Southeast Asian country.
