A Starry Weekend on Lake Como as EDITION Opens Its Doors
Lake Como got a fresh dose of glamour last weekend when Ian Schrager’s EDITION hotel chain opened its latest outpost on the Italian lake’s elegant shoreline. Actor Joel Edgerton, photographer Juergen Teller, architect John Pawson, and artist Mickalene Thomas were among the guests celebrating the launch of The Lake Como EDITION.
The weekend kicked off with an intimate gathering of international celebrities and local artists. Highlights included a private outdoor lunch at Al Veluu, a restaurant tucked into the winding hills above the lake, and treatments at The Longevity Spa, where the menu runs from cryotherapy and biohacking to LED therapy, Turkish baths, and massages for both sculpting and relaxation. Guests also took afternoon cruises on Como’s classic flat-hulled wooden Lucia boats.
Martha Stewart stopped by for dinner at Renzo, the hotel’s second-floor terrace restaurant, where chef Mauro Colagreco—holder of three Michelin stars at his restaurant in Menton, France—serves contemporary Italian dishes with sweeping views of the lake and Bellagio. Stewart posted on Instagram, praising the “handsome” staff and boasting about “two glorious nights eating the food.”
Other attendees included actress Wallis Day, photographer Douglas Friedman, Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davies, and Gian Luca Passi. The celebrations ended with a private dinner at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Cetino, followed by music and dancing in the lobby bar.
The 148-room property occupies a historic 1830s palazzo that originally opened as The London. The exterior keeps its original color palette, and many lake-facing rooms retain restored French balconies. Inside, marble archways, terrazzo floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows mix with a new reflection pool and fountain at the entrance.
Cultural programming includes guided hikes, culinary events, and art installations. The opening weekend featured a welcome mixer with Katkoot, an Italian wine brand favored by Rick Owens and A$AP Rocky.
“This opening marks a new era,” said George Fleck, EDITION’s global brand leader. “The timeless glamour of Lake Como meets a new generation of luxury.” The Lake Como EDITION is the brand’s 21st location.
