A New Resort Destination Is Rising Along the Vazuza River in Smolensk

Governor Vasily Anokhin announced plans for a new resort center in the Sychevsky municipal district of the Smolensk region, situated on the banks of the Vazuza River. The project was formalized during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, with a signed agreement between the regional government and Nikolskoye Resort LLC. The development will feature a hotel complex with 20 traditional Russian-style cottages, a restaurant, and bath and spa facilities. Designed for family vacations and road trips, the resort will operate year-round. Anokhin shared in his messaging channel that the expected annual tourist flow could reach between 10,000 and 15,000 visitors. “This project is aimed at boosting domestic tourism and creating a comfortable environment for both locals and guests,” he wrote. The investor has already been granted a land plot, and preparatory work is underway. Surveying is complete, utility connections are in place, and the area is being landscaped. The total investment is around 250 million rubles, with completion targeted by 2029.
