A Moscow Blogger’s Birthday Trip to Sochi: What It Really Costs in Winter

A Russian travel blogger from Moscow decided to celebrate her birthday in Sochi this February and shared a detailed breakdown of her spending. Writing in her personal blog, “Let All Travels Come True,” on the Zen platform, she revealed that round-trip flights cost her about 14,800 rubles. Her accommodation at the River Star hotel ran 15,000 rubles for five nights—a price she called “quite reasonable” given the hotel’s fresh renovation and modern furnishings.

“The room was in excellent condition,” she noted. “The renovation was clearly recent, with new furniture and appliances. And a big plus for winter travel: the room was warm.”

Breakfast at the hotel café cost 700 rubles, though she pointed out that booking with meals included would have saved money. For entertainment, she spent 2,000 rubles on a trip to a Sochi water park, and 2,500 rubles for one at Krasnaya Polyana. A ticket to Magic Park amusement park set her back 1,500 rubles, while the wax museum cost 1,000 rubles.

Earlier, a Sochi resident urged Russians not to believe rumors about the resort’s poor condition. She said reports of a closed airport and oil residue in the sea were exaggerated.
