A Legendary Superyacht Joins Jumeirah’s Fleet for Mediterranean Charters

Luxury hotel brands have been dipping their toes into the cruise business for a while now, but Jumeirah is taking a different tack. The Dubai-based group—behind icons like the Burj Al Arab—has partnered with one of the most famous sailing yachts afloat: The Maltese Falcon. Now part of the Jumeirah Privé collection, this 12-guest superyacht is available for week-long charters this summer across the Med, from the Balearic Islands and the French Riviera to the Amalfi Coast, Croatia, Greece, and Türkiye. Come winter, it heads to the Caribbean.

The Maltese Falcon earned its reputation two decades ago with a revolutionary DynaRig system—three rotating carbon-fibre masts that unfurl the sails in seven minutes at the touch of a button. I saw it happen off Mallorca, and it’s a sight you won’t forget. Inside, an open-plan lounge with a bar and piano flows into an Asian-inspired dining room with hidden wine storage. A spiral staircase leads to a master suite, a VIP suite with its own terrace, and four double cabins. There’s also a fitness studio, a spa offering Jumeirah treatments like Japanese-inspired bodywork, and a garage full of water toys: kayaks, e-foils, Seabobs, and wakeboards.

Chefs trained by Jumeirah run the galley, and you can request a chef from Jumeirah Mallorca or Capri Palace. During my trip, lunch was an Italian spread—seafood salad, paccheri pasta, chocolate lingot—served on a table decked with painted tiles and colorful glassware. Strong winds scrapped an outdoor movie, but watching the sunset over Sa Dragonera National Park with a raspberry sour in hand was compensation enough.

For those who want to extend the experience, Jumeirah Mallorca offers add-ons like a celestial masterclass during August’s solar eclipse, a wine tasting at Finca Macià Batle, helicopter tours, and a visit to Son Moragues—a 500-year-old estate producing organic olive oil, jams, and botanical gin. Whether at sea or on land, it’s a fresh look at Mediterranean life. A week’s charter starts at $7,000; rooms at Jumeirah Mallorca from $705.
