12 Days in Vietnam: A Russian Couple’s Honest Review of Costs and Crowds

A Russian traveler has shared a detailed account of a two-week trip to Vietnam, revealing exactly how much a vacation for two costs—and what surprised him most. Speaking on the blog "Routes of Profitable Travel" on the Yandex.Zen platform, the tourist said he and his partner paid 100,000 rubles (roughly $1,100) for 12 nights in a hotel plus transfers.
The destination that won him over was Nha Trang, largely because of the prices. A shrimp salad set them back no more than 300 rubles (about $3.30), a coffee cost between 70 and 100 rubles, and a full lunch at a restaurant came to around 500 rubles. "Everything here is so cheap. I even thought about moving here," he admitted.
But the trip wasn’t without disappointments. The beaches left a lot to be desired. The only spot the couple found clean enough for swimming was the coast of Cam Ranh. "The central beach was a letdown—way too crowded, dirty, and the water didn't look inviting. I wouldn't swim there," the traveler said.
For currency exchange, the couple recommends heading to jewelry stores. "We brought dollars and exchanged them at jewelry shops. The rate was the best we found," they explained.
This review comes as Russian travelers eye Asia for May getaways—the start of the low season, when hot deals and last-minute sales pop up across many Asian destinations.
